My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

**MEET Nyssa, Your New Best Friend**

Introducing Nyssa, a truly exceptional one-year-old Jack Russell Terrier-Whippet mix with a short coat. This delightful pup perfectly blends gentleness and strength, feistiness and confidence—wrapped in a personality that is simply irresistible. At this pivotal stage in her life, Nyssa is ready to flourish and thrive with the loving family she deserves. This is your chance to make a lasting difference in her world!

While Nyssa may be a bit shy at first, she quickly opens up and builds trust with kind encouragement. An active family would be her perfect match, providing the companionship she needs to channel her boundless energy into thrilling adventures and meaningful training. Intelligent and eager to learn, Jack Russells excel with proper guidance, and with the Whippet’s calm and gentle nature, Nyssa is the ideal partner for anyone excited about training and outdoor fun. Just imagine the incredible bond you could create together!

It’s important to note that this unique breed has a strong prey drive, so its future home should be free of small animals and cats. To ensure a harmonious environment, we are particularly looking for families with children over 10 years old who have experience with dogs.

Nyssa's stunning short coat boasts beautiful brown spots against a pristine white background, complemented by her long back and medium-short legs, which create an adorable silhouette. Her robust, muscular build not only hints at her potential as a fantastic hiking or agility partner but also promises a life overflowing with joy and excitement. Picture all the adventures waiting for you with Nyssa by your side!

Currently, Nyssa enjoys a human-grade dog food diet, and Rompin Paws provides educational resources to help you learn the best nutrition for our rescued dogs. By adopting Nyssa, you’re not just gaining a new furry family member; you are committing to her health and happiness. Nyssa is ready to fill your life with joy and endless adventures. Don’t miss out on the chance to welcome this incredible girl into your home!

  **Adopting Nyssa**

To apply for the adoption of Nyssa, please use the link below. One of our volunteers will review your application and follow up with you to ask questions, address any concerns you may have, and determine if you are a good match for this pup. If a match is made, the next step will be a meet-and-greet. Please use a computer to complete the application, as tablets and cell phones may cause disruptions in the process. Nyssa has transitioned to a human-grade diet that avoids kibble, focusing instead on a healthy canine-specific feeding regimen. We will educate her adopters on proper diet and nutrition.                                                                     The adoption fee for Nyssa is $450

All funds will be utilized to cover her medical care and to rescue more dogs in need.

Nyssa has a bonded dog adoption fee of $595.00 if adopted as a bonded pair with her best buddy, Luna.

Adopting a Dog requires a lot of work and is a commitment!
Adoption: If you think you have room in your home and heart for a new rescue dog, please go to our website: http://rompinpawsrescue.rescuegroups.org/

Healthy dogs: As a rescue saving dogs from starvation, Neglect, and Emaciation, RPR focuses on feeding each rescued animal the healthiest dog food made of Human Grade ingredients to help them recover from their stress and starvation. We share this with our adopters and encourage them to keep their new pets on the same foods for optimal health and long life.

OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR DOG ADOPTION:

1) These dogs are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

2) We give preference to applicants with prior small breed knowledge/ experiences.

3) Secure visible fencing required.

4) You must have a plan in place to socialize your dog properly.

5) The FASTEST way to be considered for a dog is to fill out an application. If you write, it will delay your application and put you at the back of the line. The folks processing applications are volunteers that have their own dogs, families, and job responsibilities. We do our best to get applications done quickly.

We bring dogs from up from California. There are transportation costs for each dog. Then the dogs need to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, groomed, and some are placed with fosters, or set up at the adoption facility in Arlington. We do not receive any grants so we rely solely on adoption fees and donations to fund all of our rescue efforts. Finally, we take on "Special Needs" dogs with high vet costs and pay for their procedures with 'leftover' funds from adoption fees for healthier dogs.

Our passion is to bring people and pets together. Countless dogs are without homes and in need of assistance. These are dogs who would make wonderful and faithful companions if only they could connect with the right person or family. We have made it our mission to help them do this. At the same time, we hope to enrich the lives of those who adopt them.

We strive to match our dog's needs and personality to the preferences and requirements of each potential adopter. We believe this is a crucial component of the process and will help ensure a life-long relationship.

Our primary focus is on small mixed breeds, moms, and puppies of small and large breeds, although we do occasionally take in larger dogs. We work collaboratively with shelters, other rescue groups, and individuals, both locally and in California..

RPR was established in April 2015. We placed 400 dogs in our first year of operation in a small facility on acreage in Arlington, Washington.

We have a few local fosters and seek to increase our foster base in order to save more lives

Come Meet Our Pets...
We have a home-based operation on Acreage in Arlington and Our dogs are placed in foster homes around the greater Seattle/I-5 Corridor North to Arlington area where they receive socialization and training while they await adoption.
Our Adoption Process...
Since we have a small facility on gated acreage, we are unable to stay open to anyone who wishes to come visit. To facilitate successful adoptions we ask interested people and families to fill out an application for the dog or dogs they may be interested in. We screen the applications and then speak with the interested party by phone. If it looks like a good match can be made, we pre-approve the applicant and set an appointment for a meet and greet with the dogs at our facility or with the fosters who have the dogs in their care. We continue the interview in person and make sure the dog and family are a good fit.

Go meet their pets

Since many of our rescues reside with fosters, applicants will meet their potential new family members by appointment either at the Arlington facility or with the foster at an approved site that works for all participants. We look forward to meeting you.

More about this rescue

I began pet rescue at the young age of 11 when I attended Junior High school across the street from a high kill shelter that employed a decompression chamber to kill animals. I never stopped. I have worked with many other rescues and rescued on a small basis. Because of the awareness in Wa. state and the huge base of volunteers and animal lovers in this state, I have endeavored to do this full time in order to save many more lives
