Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Handala, a two-year-old shepherd mix with a heart bigger than the world. One look into his eyes and you’ll see a soul full of love, loyalty, and a deep desire to belong.
Handala was rescued in October 2023, and for a short while, he thought he had found his forever home. He loved so fiercely that he began guarding his family, not realizing that love doesn’t mean protecting at all costs. When he was returned, it was heartbreaking — but Handala didn’t give up. Since then, he has been learning and growing, meeting new people, working on his socialization, and thriving with the help of fluoxetine.
Today, Handala is ready to try again. He is affectionate, playful, and happiest when chasing after a ball and then curling up in a lap. He can live with other dogs, though he does best as the only dog in the home or with a gentle, submissive female. He is fully vetted, healthy, and eager for the chance to show someone just how devoted he can be.
What Handala needs most is a family willing to continue his training and guide him with patience, structure, and consistency. In return, he will give his whole heart and soul, offering the kind of loyalty only a shepherd can. Handala doesn’t just want a home — he’s searching for someone to understand him, believe in him, and let him become the steadfast companion he’s meant to be.
Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
