Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Applewood
Applewood is our three and a half year old Louisiana lovebug! When Applewood came to HAP she was positive for heartworm so we got to work right away in getting her treated and cleared of heartworm and now she's ready for her furever home! Applewood loves loves loves to cuddle. It's her absolute favorite thing in the world and she will not hesitate to find whatever human is nearby and move her entire body in for snuggles! Seriously, she would just lay by your side all day if you'd let her. But when she's not getting all the love, she loves to play with her toys and can happily entertain herself if there's squeaky toys involved. It's the cutest thing to see her toss them up and run around pouncing on the squeakers. Applewood hasn't been the biggest fan of sharing all the attention with other dogs and has preferred to soak everything in all on her own so would do best in a home where she can be the center of attention. She has met a few children and has done well with her loving and gentle temperament so would probably do well with children of any ages. So if you're looking for a lap dog that will be your best friend and provide all the cuddles, Applewood is the girl for you!
While completing her treatment, Applewood spent some time in foster and here's what they had to say about her: "Applewood spent a few weeks with us while she was undergoing heartworm treatment and she was a gem! Despite the meds making her feel a little yucky and out of it, she was always wagging her tail when she saw us and would spend most of her time by one of our sides soaking up all the pets we had to offer. She also found where the sun spots would be throughout the day and would move from spot to spot soaking up the sun. She loved sunbathing and relaxing in our backyard regardless of the weather. She wanted to be outside and loved to spend time out there and going on short walks while her activity was restricted. Applewood was a sweetheart and we hope she finds the perfect home soon!"
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
