Tucker is a 6-month-old, 28 lb Australian Cattle Dog/American Pit Bull Terrier mix with a heart as big as his adorable, uniquely marked face. This sweet boy was rescued from the South LA City shelter after arriving with a broken front leg. Because his fractures were along the growth plate, the safest approach was to let the leg heal naturally—and Tucker handled the whole process like an absolute champ.
Through splint changes, limited activity, and lots of rest, Tucker stayed his happy, cooperative self. However, we recently noticed that he continues to lift his leg up in discomfort and only gingerly uses it. We decided to get a second opinion from an orthopedic specialist and they feel it was in his best interest to amputate the leg. Due to the severity of the infection when he came in, there was not enough blood flow to his forearm which caused bone loss. His elbow also became dislocated through the splinting process and he would eventually start to get arthritis down the road. His amputation surgery went well and Now he’s footloose, “injured leg free”, and getting stronger every day. He continues to greet us with his award winning smile. Nothing slows this spirited pup down!
Tucker loves to play, explore, and go on adventures with his foster mom. He’s an active, social boy who has a blast playing with other dogs. He’ll thrive in a home ready to continue his outings, basic training, and some fun brain-work to keep him engaged.
With his loving nature, fun energy, and eye-catching markings, Tucker is completely irresistible. He’s expected to mature around 50 lbs once full grown. Tucker is ready for a family who will keep up with his playful spirit and give him the active, happy life he deserves. Could that be you?

If both parties agree, a meet and greet can be set up so that you can see the pet in person. These will typically take place in the adopters home so that the pet may meet the other family members and pets in the household.
If both parties agree, an adoption can take place at that meeting. An adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid. An adoption fee will range from $150 - $500.
