Meet Rae!
Hi, I’m Rae! If you had seen me on Day One when I arrived in Colorado from Kansas with my brother, you’d never believe I’m the same dog. I was terrified — shy, unsure, and overwhelmed. But wow, have I blossomed!
These days, I love meeting people. I can still be a tiny bit shy at first, but once I feel safe, I’m a total snuggle bug who follows my humans everywhere. I’ve even met older kids and wasn’t intimidated by them at all — just happy for more humans to love. I also live with a cat and do just fine with her (she’s the boss, and I totally respect that).
I would absolutely love a dog friend in my forever home — I adore playing and I’m happiest when I have a buddy. I live with two foster siblings right now: one is a confident playful pup who helps show me the ropes on walks, and the other is a sassy senior lady who runs the house… and yes, I respectfully stay out of her way. I share toys and water bowls like a champ and can entertain myself when my foster friends aren’t in the mood.
Walks are becoming one of my favorite activities! Loud noises can still startle me, but watching my confident foster brother reminds me that everything is okay. My leash manners are improving every day, and I’ve even started exploring Wash Park where I’ve been doing great with other dogs and neighbors. Everyone gets a tail wag from me!
When it comes to home life — I’ve mastered this whole “living inside” thing. I sleep in the bed with my foster mom and her dog at night (the crate is still scary for me), but the good news? I’m truly an angel when left alone. Even though I’m still young, I just lounge or nap in the house and don’t need to be crated.
I’m potty trained, I know how to sit, and I’ve even perfected my photo-ready smile. I’m gentle, eager to please, and so proud of how far I’ve come. Now I’m ready for my forever family — preferably one with another dog — who will help me keep growing, exploring, and feeling brave.
