Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Jello, an incredibly special little lady with a heart full of purrs and a wonderfully unique walk! Like her namesake, Jello may be a little jiggly, but she's perfectly sweet. Jello is a playful, charming, 4-month-old kitten dressed in her finest black and white tuxedo, ready to wobble her way into your life.
What is Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH)?
Jello has a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). This is a non-progressive neurological condition that occurs when the cerebellum—the part of the brain that controls fine motor skills, coordination, and balance—doesn't develop properly before birth. In Jello's case, it causes a characteristic "wobbly" gait, head tremors (especially when focusing), and occasional difficulty with precision movements.
The most important things to know about CH are:
It is NOT painful: Jello feels no pain from her condition. She is a happy, healthy kitten!
It is NOT contagious: It cannot be passed to other pets or people.
It is NON-progressive: The condition will never get worse. Jello's current level of coordination is her permanent level. In fact, many CH cats learn to compensate and improve their mobility as they grow!
Life with Jello: Loving a Wobbly Cat
Owning a cat with CH is a truly rewarding and joyful experience! Jello is not disabled; she is simply specially-abled and just needs a few simple accommodations to thrive:
Safety First: Jello needs a home where she is kept indoors, away from stairwells she could fall down (though she might learn to use them!), and she needs soft landings for when she tumbles during play.
Modification: We recommend deep-sided litter boxes (for stability) and non-slip mats around feeding and play areas to help her keep her footing.
Personality: CH cats are known for being extra affectionate and determined. They don't know they are "different" and are often fiercely dedicated to accomplishing tasks, even if it takes them a few tries! Jello is a relentless hunter of wand toys and a champion cuddler.
If you are looking for a unique companion who will inspire you with her determination and shower you with love, Jello is ready to wobble her way into your heart. Apply to meet our sweet, black and white warrior today!
