Meet Mallard – The Gentle Giant Loving Life in Wisconsin

Neutered Male | ~90 lbs | Great Pyrenees / Lab Mix (best guess) | 2–3 Years Old

Mallard has officially made it to Wisconsin and is settling in wonderfully with his foster family through Mutt Life Dog Rescue! This big, gentle guy came from the Arkansas shelter system and has taken every new experience in stride.

At around 90 pounds, Mallard is a huge, super tall boy with the heart of a teddy bear. He is beautiful and although he weighs in at 90lbs, he seems more like 100lbs, hes a BIG boy!

He was originally found as a stray in the Arknasas kill shelter system and then was pulled by a volunteer to live at a vet clinic in AR while completing heartworm treatment. He is now healthy, happy, and thriving. His foster family in WI says he’s sweet, goofy, a good snuggler and easy to have around — the kind of dog who just wants to be near his people.

Mallard gets along with all the dogs he’s met — big, small, and even puppies. He’s currently learning to live peacefully with cats and chickens. While he initially showed some prey drive, after just a day in his foster home he has begun adjusting well and is doing great with the resident cats.

He’s fantastic with kids. Mallard knows “sit,” “down,” and “shake,” is very food motivated, and loves swimming. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and continuing to work on his leash manners. He is off leash with his foster on their farm.

Mallard’s gentle, affectionate temperament makes him an ideal family dog or companion for someone looking for a big, loyal, goofy friend. He’s past the puppy phase but still has plenty of love and personality to share.
