HI! I`m Sage and I am one of the sweetest boys you will ever meet. I`m a little cautious at first, but give me a few days in your home and I`ll show you my true nature. I am playful and silly and so very sweet. If you need company in the bathroom, I`m your guy. Need your head kept warm at night? I got you! I might even groom your face a little. I love playing with other cats and am tolerant of dogs, big and small, but they make me a little nervous. Loud noises and new things make me nervous, but I`ll just hide until I feel comfortable again and then I`m right back to being the snuggliest guy. I like small toys that I can bat around or carry in my mouth, scratching posts, and windows. I would do best in a relatively quiet home with another playful cat. (1/10/26 lt)

Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Hamsters/Rats/Gerbils (can adopt 2 for 1) $10

Seniors for Seniors - Special Senior Citizen (60 yrs +) No charge for an animal 7 yrs or older.
Military Families - 50% of adoption fees waived for military personnel and veterans. (proof of eligibility required)
Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.
CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
