My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lightning is a lovable older puppy with a big heart and even bigger paws! His amazing foster family reports that this large-breed
youngster is, “full of playful energy and always ready for an adventure. Whether it's a hike, a game of fetch, or just zooming around the yard, Lightning brings the fun wherever they go.”

He gets along great with other dogs and would thrive in an active home where playtime is a daily thing. Like most pups his age, Lightning is still learning the ropes and will benefit from continued training and structure to help grow into a well-mannered adult.

If you're looking for a loyal, goofy, energetic best friend who’s ready to learn and love, Lightning might just be your perfect match!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue dog! Whether you adopt from Rocket Dog or another rescue group, the fact is you will save a life. Adopting a rescued animal is a lifetime commitment! The first step in our adoption process is completing an adoption questionnaire here: https://www.rocketdogrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/

From there, you will be contacted by a volunteer to talk more about what you're looking for and if the dog you're interested in might be a good fit.

Go meet their pets

Our dogs live both in foster homes and at the Rocket Dog Sanctuary in Oakland. The best way to arrange a meeting for a specific dog is to fill out an adoption questionnaire on our website here: https://www.rocketdogrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/

We have adoption events every weekend throughout the Bay Area, which you can see here - https://www.rocketdogrescue.org/events/
