My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Archie!
Archie is a 6-year-old, 10 lb. Yorkie mix who is ready to find his forever home. He came to us when his previous owner could no longer provide the care he needed, and now this little guy is blossoming into the loving companion he was always meant to be.

Archie would be a wonderful match for someone—especially an older person—who has plenty of time to shower him with attention. He absolutely loves people, enjoys car rides (he’s the perfect little backseat buddy!), and will happily entertain himself by tossing his toys in the air and catching them.

He is a sweetheart who loves giving kisses and is just now coming out of his shell, seeking out more affection every day. Archie does have a bit of food aggression, so he’ll need to be fed separately if there are other dogs in the home. He can also get a little jealous of other dogs, so he’ll do best with a family who understands how to manage that.

Archie currently lives with a cat—he may give chase from time to time, but mostly ignores him. He doesn’t live with children, so we’re not sure how he would do around them.

Archie is crate trained, potty trained, and will require a standard fenced yard in his new home to keep him safe and secure.

He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and is on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention

If you’re looking for a devoted little friend to brighten your days, Archie is ready to ride home with you!

Archie’s adoption fee is $350.

Additional adoption info

Dogworks strives to place dogs into permanent homes based on the dogs' personalities and yours. To adopt a dog, we require a completed application, approved vetting, signed adoption contract, and home visit.

Adoption applications are available on our website (www.dogworksohio.com) and at all Meet & Greets. Once your application has been submitted, we will contact your references and consider suitability. You will be contacted by phone or email, typically within 4 business days, to discuss arrangements for adoption contract and home visit.

Adoption fees are variable (typically $125-$250) and are listed with the description of each dog. Adoption fee will be refunded if you decide that the dog is not compatible with your family within 2 weeks.

Adopted dogs must be returned to Dogworks in the event that they can no longer remain a member of your household for any reason.

All dogs have been updated on vaccines and tested for heartworm prior to adoption. Adult dogs and puppies older than 14 weeks are spayed/neutered. Adopters of younger puppies are required to sign an agreement to complete spay/neuter by 6 months of age. We will assist with spay/neuter costs. Adopters will receive a copy of medical records.

More about this rescue

Dogworks is an all-volunteer, nonprofit group based in Toledo, OH, whose purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, neglected, and unwanted dogs. Our focus has been on sporting dogs, both purebreds and mixed breeds. Most dogs are rescued from euthanizing shelters, although some come to us from relinquishing owners or other means. All dogs are fostered in volunteer homes until adoption. We do not have a shelter or kennel facility.
