My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Thistle is a Patient Paw, please ask about her reduced adoption fee!**

Meet Thistle! Thistle came to us from an overcrowding situation and arrived unsure about humans, but he’s been making steady, heartwarming progress with staff and volunteers. Once he feels safe, he’ll lean into your hand for gentle neck and cheek scratches, which is his quiet way of showing trust.

Thistle is still building confidence, so he’s looking for a calm, patient home where he can take things at his own pace. A quiet household without children would help him feel most comfortable. He may also do well with another friendly, confident cat who can show him the ropes.

This sweet boy may take some time to fully come out of his shell, but for the right adopter, watching him blossom will be incredibly rewarding. If you have a peaceful home and a soft spot for shy cats, Thistle may be the perfect companion to grow with!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
