My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mama Mia is a beautiful Malinois mix who gave birth to nine gorgeous puppies at the shelter. Because of a health issue that was discovered shortly after, she wasn’t able to raise them herself—but thanks to dedicated volunteers, her babies were lovingly bottle-fed and quickly adopted into wonderful homes. Now it’s Mia’s turn to find a forever family of her own!

Mia is a sweet, affectionate girl who adores people and craves human attention. She enjoys playgroups with other dogs and loves toys—though she can get a bit enthusiastic with them, so she’d do best in a home with children over 10 who understand her playful energy.

Because of her medical condition, Mia has special feeding needs. She must eat in an upright position using her special Bailey chair, which helps her food go down properly. The best part? Mia doesn’t mind one bit! She walks right into her chair and mealtime is quick and easy.

Mia’s gentle spirit, resilience, and love for life make her truly special. She’s ready to bring joy, loyalty, and so much love to the family lucky enough to call her their own. 💖

More about this rescue

Abandoned Animal Rescue is a no-kill dog / cat shelter located in Magnolia serving Northwest Harris and Southern Montgomery Counties in Texas. It is staffed by dedicated volunteers devoted to saving the lives of homeless and unwanted companion animals.

AAR's mission is to work towards ending pet overpopulation that results in the euthanasia of unwanted cats and dogs. We do this by providing a rescue and adoption center, by emphasizing the importance of spaying and neutering and by educating on humane animal ownership. AAR is committed to the emotional, physical, and behavioral well being of each animal in our care.

All animals surrendered to the shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and wormed; dogs are tested for heartworms and, if positive, are treated prior to adoption.

All operating money for AAR comes from
clinic and adoption fees, donations, and fundraisers. AAR receives no government money or assistance.
