My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Xanthos. I sound a bit like a superhero, and while I may not wear a cape, I do have extra toes—yep, I’m a polydactyl—so I think that counts for something.

I’m a playful little guy who absolutely loves toys, especially wand toys. If you’re willing to flick one around, I’ll chase it happily for as long as you’re able. Playtime is my favorite way to build confidence and show my fun side.

I’m still learning to trust people, but I’m making great progress. Wet food and tasty kitten treats have helped me realize that humans bring very good things, and while I may need a little encouragement at first, I’m getting more comfortable with pets every day. When I’m enjoying my wet food—especially alongside my kitty friend—I’ll happily let you pet me, and I’m starting to see that being loved feels pretty nice.

I adore other cats and really benefit from having a confident feline friend around. I like to lean on them, swirl around them, and take comfort in their company when I’m feeling unsure. Because of that, I’d do best in a home with another friendly cat. While Xanthos is intrigued by dogs, he’s not quite ready for full, up-close dog interactions. A dog-free home would be ideal, though he may do well with a gentle, respectful dog after slow, structured introductions. He already enjoys baby-gate “hello’s” and nose boops each morning!

If you’re patient, gentle, and committed to helping me blossom, I promise I’ll reward you with playful energy, sweet moments, and a very special bond. All I ask is time, kindness, and strong wrists for daily wand toy sessions.

— Xanthos

Pawmetto Lifeline, formerly Project Pet, was founded in 1999. Since the opening of our adoption, medical, and boarding facility in Spring 2012, we have been able to save more than 15,000 companion pets from euthanasia and gave them a new lease on life.
