My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joshie is a sweet, wise, and gentle soul - a 12-year-old, 21-pound little guy who recently found his way to our rescue after wandering the streets as a stray. He was microchipped, and his family confirmed he had been missing for over a month. They weren’t able to bring him back home, but Joshie is thriving now in a safe environment where he can finally relax and enjoy life.

Despite his age, Joshie still has plenty of love to give. He’s a laid-back gentleman with a big heart, and he enjoys curling up in a cozy spot or quietly following his favorite humans from room to room. Joshie does have arthritis in all four legs and takes daily pain medication to keep him comfortable, and he also came in with a double ear infection and dry eyes. Thankfully his ears are all better, and his eyes are feeling much better now too with his daily eye drops. His vision is a little limited but it doesn’t slow him down; he navigates his world with gentle confidence.

Joshie is great with other dogs and has a calm, friendly demeanor, though he does have a little spark when treats or food are involved - sharing isn’t really his style! Otherwise he’s a picture of innocence, patience, and sweetness. He’s looking for a patient, loving home where someone can help him age gracefully, keep him cozy, and give him all the gentle love he deserves in his golden years.

Joshie has been through a lot in his life, but he hasn’t lost his trusting, devoted spirit. He’s ready to be someone’s loyal best friend, snuggle companion, and little shadow for the rest of his days. If you’re ready for unconditional love (and maybe a little sass at snack time), Joshie could be the perfect addition to your family. Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
