My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oona
The interviewer lady (IL) had a special interest in meeting me. Even though I am only 1.5 years old, she said I reminded her of a cartoon character called Oona from the Nancy comic books in the 1950s. I suppose it was because she was petite, slender, and wore black. That does describe me. I arrived with four kittens. The woman who found us kept us for four months before surrendering us to HSHC. It`s a mystery as to whether those babies were mine. However, the shelter ensured that I was spayed, so there`s no need to worry about future litters. I am a sociable girl, playful and energetic. That is why the shelter transferred me to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC), because I get along with people as well as other cats. I still feel like a kitten myself, and sometimes too much attention can overwhelm me. I appreciate a gentle, easy-going approach when I am meeting new people. My photos show me in my favorite pose — a Halloween cat! I am ready and eager to find my forever home, and the IL told me it`s a sure thing because I am a sweetie-pie. 11-15-25

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
