Jameson is a handsome adult about 3-4 who loves to have attention and spend time with people. He gets along well with other cats and is good with children. Jameson came to us after his owner passed away and the landlord put him outside. He would be a great companion for another adult or senior cat in your home or would also be happy as your only kitty.
Jameson has tested positive for FIV, also known at kitty Aids. Just like with people it is NOT contagious through casual contact. It's safe to share food, water, and litter box with a negative cat. FIV is only passed by a deep bite wound, where saliva from the positive cat enters the blood stream of another kitty. This is very rare in socialized house cats.
FIV cats can have a shorter life span in part due to the fact that with a compromised immune system they are more prone to contracting infections. FIV positive cats must live strictly indoors to reduce the chances of contracting something dangerous.
It is NOT a death sentence! FIV positive cats can live well into their teens and have a very normal life. He is currently living side by side in a foster home with several cats who tested negative.
