Background

Petey’s story began when he was turned in as a stray at Memphis Animal Services. Terrified and confused, he found himself in a noisy, stressful shelter environment that he didn’t understand. He didn’t want to be touched and made sure everyone knew it — not because he was mean, but because he was scared. Sadly, that fear was mistaken for aggression, and he was labeled as “FAS” and marked “rescue only.”

Thankfully, a foster stepped up, and that’s when everything changed.

Personality

The moment Petey left the shelter, his true colors came shining through. Gone was the fearful little dog — in his place emerged a silly, affectionate, tail-wagging bundle of love! He adores other dogs, believes he’s a lap dog, and has been handing out kisses like he’s making up for lost time.

He’s proven to be gentle and respectful with cats and even chickens. Smart, playful, and deeply appreciative of the love he’s finally found, Petey is showing everyone that sometimes, a little patience and compassion can transform fear into joy.

Ready for Adoption

At just 11 pounds and around three years old, Petey is the perfect size for any home. He’s eager to continue learning, loving, and proving that he’s not the “angry little guy” from MAS — he’s a total mushball with a huge heart.

Submit Application

• Current pets must be spayed/neutered, UTD on annual exams, heartworm tests, vaccines & consistent heartworm prevention.

Interview

We will have a volunteer call personal and vet references. We will interview applicant if all information provided is accurate.

3.
Home Check

We do in home visit checks or via video chat. Video Chat If adopter lives out of our area, if a volunteer Is unavailable.

Or we help arrange private (or volunteer) transport for your pet if adopter isn’t in our local area.

Additional adoption info

We are all volunteers, but we try to have all applications processed in 7 business days.. If you are approved, then we will send you an adoption contract and transport information. Payment must be made once contract is finalized.
We try to answer all inquiries. If you are interested in a pet the best way to meet that pet is FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. Since we are all volunteers, applicants must be approved before a meet/greet.
