Maimee is a 4-year-old Cairn Terrier with a brave heart and a gentle soul. She’s been through so much, yet continues to move forward with quiet resilience and grace.
Found in an abandoned trailer with her two sons, Dean and Wrigley, after their owners were incarcerated, Maimee survived harsh conditions without water or electricity in the summer heat. Tragically, Maimee and one of her sons were later struck by a car and sustained injuries. Thanks to the care of a rural shelter and the team at Melissa’s Second Chances, Maimee received the medical attention she needed and has been steadily healing ever since.
This strong little mama recently had surgery to remove her damaged right eye and is recovering beautifully. She’s used to being brave for her puppies, so she naturally takes on a leadership role. Maimee is dog-friendly and would do best with another calm, social dog who doesn’t mind letting her take the lead. She’s still a bit nervous around men and isn’t suited for a home with cats.
Despite everything she’s endured, Maimee has the sweetest heart and warms up quickly once she feels safe. She’s the kind of dog who forms deep, lasting bonds with her people—a true “soul dog” just waiting for the right match.
Maimee is ready for a fresh start filled with safety, patience, and the comfort of being part of a loving family again. 💛 She is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, which means you can take some time to get to know him in your home before finalizing the adoption.
