Canela #4 | 1-Year-Old Chihuahua Mix | The Sweetest Little Shadow

Meet Canela, a 14-pound bundle of joy who’s equal parts playful, loving, and snuggly. This brown Chihuahua mix may be small, but her personality fills the room. She loves to play fetch, chase squeaky toys, and curl up under the covers when it’s time to relax. Her favorite things include being brushed, getting belly rubs, and resting her head on her person—she’s as affectionate as they come.

Canela is almost fully house-trained and doing great with crate training—she gets in easily and sleeps through the night. She can stay home for several hours with another dog in the house and settles down nicely after a little initial whining. She’s had positive interactions with small dogs and seems to enjoy their company.

Leash walks are still a work in progress, as she can be reactive to other dogs, people, or anything with wheels, but with patience, consistency, and structure, she’s learning to relax and focus. She knows a few basic commands like “sit” and “down” and is highly motivated by food, toys, and affection—especially if chicken is involved!

Canela’s ideal home would be loving, active, and ready to keep building her confidence with positive reinforcement. In return, she’ll fill your days with love, laughter, and snuggles—and happily be your little shadow wherever you go.

If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. 

The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following:

Spay/neuter

Microchip

DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. 

Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.

Our adoption process is:

1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.

2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
