My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi all, my name is Ozzy. I’m a handsome, 55 lb, 4 year old, loyal Treeing Walker Coonhound with a big heart and a few quirks that make me who I am. My life hasn’t always been easy — I lost my first home after my family had to move and couldn’t take me with them. Thankfully, a kind person took me in and gave me love, training, and stability. Now, due to changes in their life, it’s time for me to find a new forever home that truly fits me.

I’m a smart, affectionate, and playful boy. I love to cuddle, make people laugh, and show off how clever I am (I’ve figured out a few tricks to earn treats — shh, don’t tell!). I’m full of personality and love being close to my humans. I’m also great with other dogs, especially calm ones. I am a little vocal, so best is if I live in a house.

That said, I’m still working on some things. I have a protective streak and can get possessive of my space or certain items (especially laundry — it smells so interesting!). I once nipped when someone tried to take something I really valued, but I’ve been working hard with a trainer and making great progress. I just need an experienced, confident owner who will continue my training, give me structure, and help me feel secure.

I’m neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. I’m house-trained, love long walks, and enjoy a good nap just as much as a game of fetch. I can be a little anxious in small spaces or around loud noises, so a calm home with room to stretch out would be perfect for me.

I may not be perfect, but I’m full of love, loyalty, and potential. With patience, structure, and understanding, I’ll be the most devoted and entertaining companion you could ask for.

If you think we could be a match, I’d love to meet you — I’m ready to start my next chapter with someone who truly gets me.

Please adopt me! My adoption fee is by donation.

More about this rescue

Loved At Last Dog Rescue operates in the Greater Vancouver area. We rescue and rehome local dogs as well as homeless dogs from numerous countries around the world, including Mexico, Korea, China, Iran, Kuwait, Bahrain and India. Many of these dogs have experienced hardship and cruelty yet they are gentle and loving. We have found that dogs who have experienced suffering appreciate every kindness shown them. All our dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped and those over 6 months are spayed or neutered.
