Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello! My name is Kelsey!
I`m a kind girl who can be anxious in unfamiliar situations. I can be a bit timid of new people but warm up with time if they have some yummy treats and let me give them a few sniff-overs. Once I warm up, I am affectionate. I do also have a playful side and even though I`m not a young pup, I still like to romp around in the snow and tear up my stuffy toys! I do bark when I see unfamiliar dogs on leash. Gotta make sure you see them too, ya know? I am a smart girl, I respond well to positive training methods and I would love to join a home that will help me feel safe and secure.
MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES… CHILDREN: I would do best in an adult-only home given my sensitive nature. OTHER DOGS: I would be most comfy as the only dog in the home. CATS: Potentially, with a cat who has lived with and is confident around dogs. FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: I would do best with someone who has previous dog experience. FENCED-IN YARD: Recommended. HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any with yard preferred. Rural would also be great! SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.
SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME… ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium. HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.

FOSTER ME! I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me by copying and pasting the following link to fill out the questionnaire: https://guelphhumane.ca/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=frm_forms_preview&form=7y88o. The Paisley Project aims to match selected, long-stay animals at GHS with fosters that can provide a home that gradually introduces them to the everyday experiences of life as a pet. Fosters will offer the routine, structure and stability needed to help get animals ready for their new family. Learn more at https://guelphhumane.ca/the-paisley-project/.

More about this shelter
For 125 years, the Guelph Humane Society has been dedicated to protecting and caring for the many animals with whom we share our community and our lives, and to fostering the important bonds with animals that enrich us as individuals, families and communities. Founded in 1893, the Guelph Humane Society provides care and shelter for more than 3,000 homeless, stray, injured, and abused animals each year throughout Guelph and Wellington County.
Our programs are delivered by an enthusiastic team of staff with many years of experience in animal care and welfare. In addition to paid staff, we are lucky to have over 400 active volunteers who provide thousands of hours of service each year and generously share their skills and ideas.
The Guelph Humane Society has a strong working relationship with local, provincial, and national animal welfare organizations; local school boards; the City of Guelph; Township of Centre Wellington; Township of Guelph-Eramosa; local veterinarians; the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre at the University of Guelph; and Guelph Police Services and the Provincial Crown Attorney’s Office. We are an affiliate society of the Ontario SPCA, and proud member of the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS).
Our organization is guided by a Board of Directors made up of volunteers with a wide range of skills and business experience. The Board also convenes several ad hoc committees, which work to address specific issues. Day-to-day operations of the shelter are managed by the Executive Director and senior staff with the Board’s general guidance.
We are a registered charitable, non-profit organization that does not receive government funding. As such, we depend on your donations and private funding to support our important work. The Guelph Humane Society charitable registration number is 119236305RR0001.
