My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Finally, for Milo – the bravest little fighter you’ll ever meet!
In early June Milo was rushed to the ER with a life-threatening urinary blockage. At only a year old, his owners faced an impossible choice: pay for extensive hospitalization or euthanasia. Thankfully, they surrendered him to us, and we promised to give him the chance he deserved.
Milo spent nearly a week in the hospital being treated for his urinary obstruction. Once discharged, he struggled with some abnormal urination, but could urinate so we followed recommendations of a strict diet, supplements, and medications. However a month later, he obstructed again, and needed a specialized surgery called a perineal urethrostomy (PU) to help prevent future blockages. Just when we thought he was in the clear, he developed a fever and swollen, painful left hind leg. He landed back in the ER as he was experiencing a complication from surgery, likely a tear, causing urine to leak under the skin into his own leg. His only chance was a urinary catheter for another week. It was touch and go, but Milo never gave up.
And now… after months of recovery, special care, and a LOT of cheering him on – Milo is officially adoption ready!

About Milo
- 1 year old, playful, affectionate, and incredibly sweet
- Loves people and gets along with other cats
- Needs to stay on a prescription urinary diet to keep him healthy, but with his surgery, the risk of future problems is low
- Deserves the BEST forever home after everything he’s overcome

More about this rescue

OUT OF THE WOODS RESCUE IS A NO-KILL ORGANIZATION LEAD BY DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS. WE STRIVE TO MAKE EVERY INTAKE HAVE A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE AND TO KNOW THE TRUE MEANING OF FINDING THEIR FUR-EVER HOME.

Out of the Woods Rescue was established in 2018 by a group of veterinary professionals and animal caregivers. Our strong medical background helps us fulfill our goal of taking in and rehoming neglected and abandoned animals, especially those dealing with illness. The Rescue team has more than ten years of experience with animal medicine and welfare. This background allows us to care for animals who are ill and may otherwise be facing euthanasia. In addition to helping sick and senior pets, Out of the Woods Rescue also partners with Southern Puppy Rescue bringing abandoned puppies from the South to new homes in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey areas. The Rescue team is completely run on a volunteer basis and operates through donations. If you are able to donate, please click on our donations tab for links to our PayPal and Amazon accounts.
