Meet Just Joey — The Dog with a Second (and Third) Chance

Just Joey has had a rough road, but he hasn’t given up. At about 7½ years old and 20–25 pounds, this little guy has already lived a lifetime of ups and downs. He was found abandoned and spent time on a county stray hold, where he was labeled “not a very nice dog.” But one caring person looked past the surface and saw something special in Joey — a dog who simply needed patience, understanding, and a safe place to land.

That act of kindness brought Joey into Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, where he got a fresh start. He was adopted and loved for about a year, but the match wasn’t quite right. Joey has some strong feelings about his personal space and possessions — he guards what matters to him and can get defensive if he feels cornered or pressured. Because of that, he now has a bite history and needs an experienced, confident adopter who understands canine behavior, knows how to set and maintain clear boundaries, and will respect his need for space.

In the right environment, Joey can truly shine. He’s happiest in a quiet, one-person home where things are calm, consistent, and predictable. He’s indifferent toward other dogs and doesn’t need to be the center of attention — he’s content just sharing space with someone who gets him. Once he trusts you, Joey reveals his loyal, quirky personality — the kind that only shows up when he feels truly safe.

Joey isn’t for everyone, but for the right person, he could be everything. He’s looking for someone who can see beyond his rough past and give him what he’s always deserved — stability, respect, structure, and a place to finally call home.

Submit Application

Submit an adoption application at www.angelsrescue.org/adopt and a member of our Adoption Team will contact you for an interview.

2.
Meet the Pet

Our pets are located in foster homes. Once your application is approved, you will be connected with the foster family.

3.
Home Check

The foster family will do a brief home visit to ensure that it's a perfect match between family & pet!

4.
Pay Fee

Adoption fees range from $50 - $150 for cats and $150 - $300 for dogs. Specials and discounts may apply.

Sign Adoption Contract

Our team is available for support and referrals post adoption if you need it!

We ask that all pets and family members meet your potential new pet so that everyone can be sure they are the right fit!

Puppies and kittens under 4 months may only be adopted locally. Fully vetted and altered pets may be adopted out of state.
