My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If sunshine could take a selfie, it would probably look like Annie Oakley. This girl wakes up every morning as if she’s starring in her own Western musical — tail wagging, smile beaming, ready to lasso joy and sprinkle it on everyone she meets. She’s the kind of dog who makes you question how anyone could ever be in a bad mood. Seriously, if happiness were a competition, Annie would’ve retired undefeated years ago. In short, Annie Oakley is the poster child for “glass half full” energy — except her glass isn’t half full, it’s overflowing and probably sparkling. She’s a happy-go-lucky gal who’s ready to ride off into the sunset with a family who appreciates her zest for life, her boundless positivity, and her commitment to making every single day feel like the best day ever.

Annie Oakley is what happens when confidence, curiosity, and cuteness collide. This little spitfire is a 7-week-old, 7-pound Border Collie mix (with a hint of Lab, or possibly just pure sunshine). She was born right here in rescue after her mama, the legendary Belle Starr, trotted her way off the shelter’s urgent list and into a safe haven—because let’s face it, the world wasn’t ready to miss out on this level of adorable. Annie Oakley thinks every living creature was put on this earth solely for her entertainment—and honestly, she’s not wrong. Dogs? Absolutely her kind of people. She greets them all like long-lost besties at a rodeo reunion, ready to tumble, wrestle, and show off her best zoomies. Kids? Oh, they’re her favorite. She adores their energy, their crumbs, and their total lack of understanding of personal space—finally, someone who gets her! And as for cats? She’d probably give them a respectful side-eye from across the room, waiting to see if they’re friend or foe... but honestly, she’s so confident she’d probably assume they’re just another fan waiting for an autograph.

Annie Oakley operates at about a 4 out of 10 on the energy scale—which basically means she’s always ready to play, but she’s not out here training for the Puppy Olympics either. She’s got just enough spunk to keep things interesting without making you question your life choices. She’s the kind of girl who wakes up smiling, as if she’s just been told she’s getting her own TV show. Her tail never stops wagging, her confidence could power a small town, and she’s got a sass streak a mile wide. If one of her siblings gets too rowdy, she’s quick to step in and restore order—because clearly someone has to keep the operation running while Mama’s off-duty.

Now, before you saddle up and ride off into the sunset with Miss Annie Oakley, let’s have a little heart-to-heart, partner. This pint-sized cowgirl might look like a sweet bundle of fluff, but she’s still a baby outlaw learning the ropes of civilized life. Potty training? Well, she’s workin’ on her aim, but every now and then she might mistake your favorite rug for the great open plains. As for socialization, Annie’s the life of the saloon—she wants to meet every dog, human, and possibly tumbleweed that crosses her path. Her new family better be prepared to take her out and about, teaching her that not every stranger is there to give her belly rubs (though she will absolutely try to convince them otherwise). She’s got all the makings of a loyal sidekick, but her new family’s gotta be ready to put in the work, ride through the wild puppy days, and come out the other side with a best friend for life. Saddle up—this cowgirl’s gonna keep you on your toes and steal your heart in the process. 🤠

So if your heart’s big enough for a little cowgirl with a whole lotta personality, go ahead and fill out that adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app so we can send it straight to her foster family. Annie Oakley will be ready to ride off into her forever sunset around the first weekend in November—so dust off your boots, gas up the wagon, and plan your trip to Oklahoma City. This happy little bandit won’t be waitin’ long to steal someone’s heart. ❤️🤠
