My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This puppy is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $250 if picked up in TN, $325 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.

Meet Zara, a stunning one-year-old 60 lb German Shepherd with a heart as strong as her spirit! This beautiful girl is the perfect blend of energy, intelligence, and resilience. Like most Shepherds, Zara is high-energy and eager to bond deeply with her people. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be right by your side, ready to take on life’s adventures together. Zara only has three legs, but she doesn’t let it slow her down one bit! She’s agile, playful, and loves to romp around outdoors, sniffing every new scent and chasing after her favorite toys. Tug-of-war is one of her favorite games, and her joy is infectious when she’s in play mode.

She’s housetrained, crate trained, and knows a couple of basic commands like “sit” and “kennel.” While she can be vocal when something catches her attention, she’s simply doing her job. Ever the loyal Shepherd, she takes protecting her space seriously. Once she knows you’re a friend, she warms up quickly and shows her affectionate side. Zara gets along with some dogs and could do well with one calm, compatible canine companion, though she’d also be perfectly happy as the only dog soaking up all the love. She’s not a fan of cats, so a feline-free home is best. Because of her intelligence and energy, Zara would thrive with a family experienced with the German Shepherd breed, one that understands her need for structure, engagement, and plenty of time outdoors. In return, Zara will give you her unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and the joy of watching a truly remarkable dog embrace life to the fullest. Zara has proven she’s unstoppable, and now she just needs her forever family to cheer her on every step of the way.

Meet this dog at Petco on Saturday, Dec 6th from 1-4 pm CST at Petco, 377 W. Jackson St #11 Cookeville, TN 38501.

THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents.

A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) http://aarf-tn.com/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first!

Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the submittal of an Adoption Application online and a phone interview with one of our adoption coordinators. To be sure the long distance adoption is the right match for both the dog and family, we offer virtual video conference meeting for your new family member. Following verification and approval of your adoption application, we will arrange a professional transport of our new family member to your area. Our adoption donations are listed on each dog's profile. Professional transportation for your new family member is $150 or less depending on delivery location. We require a signed contract, verification of home address and vet reference.

Go meet their pets

Our rescue doesn't have an actual shelter in the Virginia area. Therefore it is not possible to meet our rescues in person prior to their adoption. Our dogs are brought up to their new families each week! The professional transport service is certified through the USDA. Our rescue dogs can be returned to us if things don't work out. We want each adoption to be for a forever home, so we try very hard to make sure it's the right match! Video conference meetings available and encouraged.

More about this rescue
