Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Festus is a hound mix, weighing around 58lb and around we figure 1 year and half old, could be a little older not sure. Festus is heartworm positive and currently going through treatment. His last treatment will be January 2026. Will finishing paying for his treatment if he gets adopted. Festus is a very gentle giant who walks will on a leash and loves to play with other dogs. Festus is up to date on shots, neutered, on heartworm medication, microchipped and on flea and tick prevention. Festus came to us as a stray, with a couple of puncture wounds in his neck from a dog attack we assume. Festus is would be easily house broke because he does not like to go in his kennel. If you are looking for a big boy to be your friend, Festus would be great. Festus is a hound some would have to keep that in mind if you was on a farm with no fence. May love to hunt.

Additional adoption info
Our adoption process is quite simple. We have a 3 page form asking questions such as do you own/rent, do you have a fenced yard, references etc. We do require a $75 adoption fee at the time of adoption. This helps us partially cover the spay/neuter fees and any medical costs of the pet.

More about this shelter
We are a very small volunteer organization at The Searcy County Humane Society operating only on Private Donations and Proceeds from our small Thrift Store. We are now able to advertise our dogs online and hopefully will find them all "Fur ever Homes". We try to help as many as we can in Searcy County but can only do so much as we are a no kill shelter with limited space. We can currently house around 17 big dogs comfortably and we have a small area for puppies.
