My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cooper Bear and Kenna are being fostered in St Peters MO

Cooper Bear and Kenna came in together and have been together since they were puppies. They are a bonded pair and we would like for them to be adopted together. They are NOT littermates. While we realize that 2 dogs is a lot at one time, they are SUCH great dogs and are good with dogs, cats and kids!!!!  The Trifecta of a good dog!

Please meet Cooper Bear. He is a 6-year-old black tri male Australian Shepherd. He currently weighs about 75 lbs. He is a big boy who loves to go for walks and to chase toys across the yard (not so good on bringing them back) loves to be close to his person; a constant companion following you from room to room. Prior to rescue Cooper lived in a loving home with his companion dog Kenna.  They were surrendered to rescue due to the family not having enough time to properly care for two large dogs and a growing family.

Cooper knows sit, stay, down, shake. He is always ready for a walk (will sit at door waiting for you to open) or a car ride, he rides like a dream, will sit in back with feet on the console and his head on your shoulder. He loves to be petted but only tolerates being brushed.  He will run to you upon hearing loud noises like thunder or fireworks.  He is being fostered with two other female dogs and does well with them.  He is also being fostered with his sister Kenna, a 6 year old red merle female.

Cooper is house trained and crate trained.  When left uncrated, he has been known to counter surf and help himself to things he shouldn't but his foster home is working on this. In his foster home, he does have access to a dog door and a fenced yard. We do recommend a physically fenced yard for him (he will run if let loose).  Cooper lived with a toddler and was a gentle giant with her but would need a slow introduction to older kids who might rush at him.

Cooper Bear is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is also receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. If you have what Cooper needs, please visit our website to find out information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
