My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Yeti is a gentle, playful, happy giant (11 Months Old and 70lbs) and everyone who meets him falls in love! This big, fluffy boy came from a property with over 20 dogs, where his previous owner used purple cattle spray to treat an eye issue... thinking it might help make things better.. He’s now getting proper care and lots of love in his foster home. Yeti was found to have a minor eye condition called entropion, which just means his eyelids roll inward a bit and can irritate his eyes, but he just had a minor corrective eye surgery before leaving the shetler.vHe has been vetted and spayed.

Yeti is energetic, playful, and is always ready for a walk, a new toy, or a good game of chase. He’s a people magnet (literally, he once charmed a stranger into handing over a whole unopened bag of treats within minutes). Yeti loves meeting new friends, both human and dogs, though he sometimes forgets just how big he is! He plays with enthusiasm and would do best with dogs who enjoy a bit of rough-and-tumble fun. He’s also met cats and is friendly (fostered with them), but he’s still learning how to read their signals and give them space when they ask for it. Yeti is housetrained and making great progress on his crate training and separation anxiety.

He’s learning that being alone isn’t so scary. His foster family is helping him build confidence and find calm routines, and his future family can continue that gentle work with patience and consistency. Yeti would thrive in an active home with someone who can help him burn off that energy and continue his training. He’s already housetrained, loves his walks, and gives the best goofy grins. He’s still growing into his paws, but one thing’s for sure, his heart is already enormous.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

The first step of the adoption process is to complete an adoption application in full at www.rescuecity.nyc. All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the city. We do not have a physical location where we keep dogs.

More about this rescue

Rescue City is a no-kill, non-profit1 pet rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption organization. Our team of dedicated volunteers is based in Brooklyn, NY and serves the NYC metro and surrounding areas.

Our organization’s motto is: There’s a person for every dog, and there’s a dog for every person…it’s just a matter of time. This applies whether you are looking to adopt a pet, or would like to make a positive impact on the lives of animals. At Rescue City we believe it is our moral responsibility to defend the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.
We take on helpless stray and surrendered animals, as well as those at the top of the euthanasia list at local and international shelters. We place our rescues in nurturing foster homes while they rebuild their lives through physical and mental rehabilitation. Following a thorough – but hassle free – adoption process, our Rescues are placed in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. Every rescue is fully vetted and altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated upon adoption. Our commitment to our rescues does not stop once the adoption paperwork is signed. We stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, and we educate our Fosters, Adopters, and community on what it means to be a good pet owner.
