Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I’m Rain, and my foster family loves to call me silly names. Rainbow, Rainy Day or Princess Rainbow are my personal favorites. They all fit perfectly; I’m a peaceful, easy-going kind of girl. I’m a 7-year-old, 39# Border Collie with a tender heart, a gentle spirit, and a good-girl streak a mile wide. I’m a little shy at first and absorb new things carefully.
My favorite place is my crate (it’s my tiny palace). I also adore a good chew, a well-stuffed Kong, and long ear rubs while I melt next to you on the couch. I’m lower energy gal, happy to relax most of the day. If another friendly dog invites playtime, I can definitely be convinced to get in on the action.
A quieter home that matches my vibe would be my dream. Teenage kids and adults are a great match for me. Most important is someone kind, patient, and loving who appreciates calm canine companionship and doesn’t mind that I’m still learning how to be brave in a big world. Someone who has helped shy dogs build confidence in the past would be perfect. I want to see more of the world; trusting my humans will allow me to keep broadening my horizons.
I walk nicely on a leash now and have really come a long way! I get a little unsettled passing scary things like garbage bins and all those wild holiday decorations, but I keep trying. I’m housebroken, quiet as a mouse, and good in the car (though I’ll admit it’s not my most favorite spot). I don’t need a fenced yard as long as I can get my exercise safely on leash.
I like other dogs, and might do well with a cat, too. It’s people that make all the difference for me. If you’d sit on couch next to me and rub my ears when we first meet, it would be a fantastic start to a long friendship.
If you’re looking for a kind, deeply sweet companion who asks for very little and gives quiet love in return… I’d love to meet you. Let’s find our rainbow connection.
Rain is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN.
APPLY TO ADOPT Rain at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt
As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.
Rain's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. All of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
