Skylar is a family dog without a family!
But you can change that! Skylar is one of our longest residents who just recently made her way into foster care! Her fosters have said she's doing wonderfully and gave us some great updates!
Skylar is such a love in the home and she's doing great so far! Besides an accident her first day, she's consistently been going outside and we'd say she's absolutely house trained! Skylar is very affectionate, she thinks she's a lap dog and loves snuggling! When we watch TV she loves to come up with us on the couch and she puts her head in my lap- so so cute!
She likes to play with her toys and her leash manners are coming along nicely- her progress is amazing so far! Skylar is also super smart! She sits, lays down and other commands. She has been getting in some marathon length naps, poor thing was so tired from the shelter. Skylar loves being around us, she is a people loving dog for sure.

Individuals wishing to adopt an animal from our shelter must complete an adoption application and provide proof of home ownership or, if you are a renter, you must provide a copy of your lease or a notarized letter from your landlord stating pets are permitted. You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt any animal from our shelter. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption. In some instances, a home visit may be required. Our fees vary depending on the age and breed of the animal. Typically, a mix breed is $110.00 and a purebreed is $150.00 and up. There is also an altering charge of $85.00 for a male and $95.00 for a female. All animals receive vaccines, microchip identification, frontline treatments.

We are opened 7 days a week between the hours of 12:00-5:00pm for adoptions. No appt is necessary and we welcome prospective adopters to bring their current pet for a meet and greet with one of our orphans.
We hold offsite adoption events throughout the year. Please visit our Facebook page AHS-Newark Branch & our volunteer page, Friends of Associated Humane Newark Shelter.
