Soar is a friendly and social hound who enjoys the company of some dogs, though his interactions may vary depending on the individual. His compatibility with children and cats is unknown, but he’s a laid-back, curious dog.
Currently undergoing treatment for heartworm, Soar is in need of a quiet, loving environment to heal and thrive. He’s looking for a home that will give him the time and care he needs during his recovery.
As a heartworm-positive dog, Soar will require a few months of regular veterinary checkups and a structured treatment plan. During his treatment, he will need to be on strict crate rest to prevent complications. The heartworm treatment costs are covered with his adoption fee, so you would just need to bring him to his appointments and cover his day-to-day care while he is on treatment.
Though it may be a bit before he can run around and play all day, this sweet boy will make it worth your while!

Find the pet for you at the Adoption Center:
Angels of Assisi’s adoption center is open from 12-6pm, 7 days a week. Adoption Specialists and Volunteer Ambassadors are eager to help you find the pet that would fit best in your family.
Adoptable Pets in Foster Homes:
Some of our available pets are currently in foster homes. If an animal is currently in a foster home, it is noted in the animal's biography online. To meet a pet in foster care, please fill out a non-binding adoption application, and the foster parent will contact you to schedule a meet and greet once the application has been approved (generally within 24 hours).
Found the perfect addition to your family? Now what?
The next step is to fill out an adoption application. You can complete and application online (preferred) or stop by the adoption center to fill out a paper application. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older. If you rent your home, we will need to contact your landlord or see a copy of your lease to verify the pet policy. Most applications can be approved within 24-48 hours.
Taking Your New Pet Home
After paying the adoption fee and pending the approval of your application, you may take your new pet home immediately. Adoption fees may vary and can be found on our website at:
