My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Skylar, from wanderer to wonder

Skylar’s story starts on the streets, but this 4 year old beauty is ready to leave that chapter behind. And honey she’s just GORGEOUS! Plus she’s the perfect mix of sweetness and playful!

Skylar gets along with other dogs pending a meet and has the potential to be a star in a home with older kids. Skylar is house trained, has great manners and is loving with everyone she meets! She’s got a heart as big as her paws and is ready to bring her gentle, loving energy into your life.

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.

Please visit our website AHSCares.org for additional information.
