My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Peg 🐾
Peg is a quiet, gentle lady who recently came in with her three kittens—Kelly, Bud, and Buckie. This little family was lovingly cared for while living outdoors, and they were finally surrendered in hopes of finding them the safe, cozy homes they deserve.

Peg is a bit shy at first, but with a few gentle pets and a little patience, she warms up quickly. You’ll soon see the loving and calm soul beneath her reserved demeanor. She’s done her job as a devoted mom—now it’s her turn to be cared for.

Peg deserves to know the warmth of a home, a soft bed, and the love of a family who sees her quiet beauty.

Adoption Hours:
We’re open 7 days a week from 12 PM to 4:30 PM. Come meet Peg—you might just be the soft landing she’s been waiting for. 💛

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.

Please visit our website AHSCares.org for additional information.
