My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mercedes, a resilient 3-year-old Hound mix with a gentle soul and a heart ready to heal. 💛

Mercedes came to us after being found tied to a pole, unsure of who to trust, but despite that rough start, she’s showing us every day just how brave and loving she truly is. Once she feels safe, her shy exterior melts away to reveal a sweet, affectionate girl who just wants to be close to the people she loves. 🐾

With a little time and a lot of love, Mercedes will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a friendship like no other. 💕
She’s been through a lot, but she hasn’t given up, and now she’s ready to find her family.

Come meet her at 2960 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls, NJ.

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.

Please visit our website AHSCares.org for additional information.
