My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

With his winning smile and happy-go-lucky spirit, Coltrane is the kind of dog who makes friends everywhere he goes. 🐾

Rescued as a lost dog, 2-year-old Coltrane quickly won over the hearts of our staff and volunteers with his easygoing nature and joyful personality.

What truly stands out about Coltrane is his amazing personality. He’s playful and active, but also has a calm, sweet side that shines through when he’s simply hanging out with people. Whether it’s going for a stroll, joining in a game, or relaxing by your side, Coltrane is happiest when he’s with those he trusts.

This sweetheart has so much love to give and is ready to bring joy, laughter, and companionship to the lucky family who chooses him. Coltrane can't wait to meet you! 💙

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.

Please visit our website AHSCares.org for additional information.
