Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jackie is a 2-year-old sweetheart who came to our Newark shelter as a stray. She has some nervous energy and can be unsure in new situations, but deep down she's a gentle, loving soul just waiting for someone to give her a chance.
She walks beautifully on a leash, takes treats gently, and loves car rides. Once she feels safe, Jackie leans in for affection and shows just how much love she has to give.
If you're patient and willing to go at her pace, Jackie will reward you with deep, loyal companionship. She just needs someone to believe in her. Apply online at ahscares.org/adopt

More about this shelter
The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.
For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
The Society is a not for profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.
