This dapper fellow is Shorty, being fostered in RI since arriving from Houston, TX where he was an owner surrender at a high intake shelter. A sad scene for him, but Shorty is resilient and not emotionally fragile, a quintessential big dog in a little body, self important and chock full of personality, and has dealt with his journey well. A funny character who can fill a room and keep you laughing, he is a great companion. He knows what it is like to live a happy life in a home, loves his dog bed but is also pert and lively. He has had some old injury, an ACL tear or slight patellar luxation, and tends to scoot around on three legs at faster gaits, but it does not seem to bother him, let alone slow him down. Shorty is a long bodied Chihuahua mix of some sort, with that nice delicacy Chis can have. Ultra sweet with his people, he loves his toys, is very playful and cooperative with other dogs, but he thinks cats are evil so does belong in a cat free home. He was turned in by his owner reporting him to be six years of age....a bit grey through the face for that, but the vet we had do his health certificate didn't argue that age status, so it may just be his markings. Rescue is always a guess, lol, but what we don't have to guess on is that he is a readymade pet, does well in his crate, enjoys walks and is a very happy boy. Housebroken overall but not immune to occasional accidents, and he can talk a lot so not ideal in a setting where noise might be an issue, he will fit into a myriad of situations....a full family, single person or retiree. Southpaws is happy to maintain its adoption fee at $450, but unfortunately we cannot adopt to residents of Massachusetts and New Hampshire due to state restrictions.
