DOG TEST: (Okay with Dogs) Belle is still learning how to play with other dogs here at the shelter. Once she opens up she can be playful with them!
CAT TEST: (Okay with Cats) Belle is very timid and shy around cats. She seems like she can learn to live in a home with cats.
KID TEST: (Okay with Kids) Belle seems like she would do well with kids of all ages. Belle can be timid at first and would do best with kids that can go slow with her at first. HOUSE BROKEN: (Needs Work) Belle does not seem to be potty trained. ENERGY LEVEL: (Medium) Belle is a sweet girl who is still learning that the world isn`t so scary. Belle can still be timid exploring new things but has opened up to staff and volunteers. Belle would fair best in a slow paced enviroment that can help ease her into new adventures! Once she opens up she demands plenty of attention and loves rubs!
LEASH WALKING: (Needs Training) Belle can be nervous outside and will pull on the leash and try to escape when she gets scared. KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit (No) Down (No) Stay (No) Shake (No) Drop (No)

Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).
Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm
We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter
We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.
Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.
When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
