My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This golden goofball is Chip—a big, bouncy mixed-breed mystery mutt who’s got the heart of a pup and the face of your favorite grandpa. Found as a stray in Georgia, Chip showed up skinny, heartworm positive, and down on his luck. But don’t worry—this comeback king got the royal treatment, beat heartworms like a champ, and is now living his best life up north while he searches for his forever couch (ahem, we mean home).

Chip is currently on a very important mission: Operation Get Chunky. At 84 pounds, he's got the frame of a linebacker and the metabolism of a teenager, so we’re working hard to get some extra fluff on those bones!

He’s a charming guy with luscious golden locks, soulful eyes, and a permanent “I just woke up from a nap” expression. Despite the distinguished mug, Chip's energy is all zoomies, tail wags, and belly flops.

Chip is a social butterfly when it comes to meeting other dogs out and about—he enjoys having doggie friends to hang with—but he’d prefer to be the only animal in his home. He’s good with kids over 12, leash-savvy, and knows some commands (he’s very smart… when he feels like it). He’s the kind of pup who’ll make you laugh with his goofy antics, ridiculous sleeping positions, and dramatic sighs when he doesn’t get his way.

Now, full transparency—Chip isn’t a huge fan of sharing his food or treats. Everything else? No problem! But when it comes to snack time, he prefers a little personal space. We totally get it (who doesn’t get hangry?), and we’re working with him on polite mealtime manners.

Chips's adoption fee is $100, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption

Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1

Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply!
