My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the one and only Valkyrie! Valkyrie’s story is as unique as they come. This spunky 2-year-old, weighing about 17 pounds, was found wandering the streets of South LA and ended up at the shelter looking a little rough around the edges. Poor Valkyrie was dealing with a painful rectal prolapse and needed urgent medical care, so the shelter reached out to us for help. Of course, we said yes and the rest is history!

Here’s where things get really interesting. When Valkyrie went in for their spay and to repair the prolapse, everyone expected a routine spay. But surprise! The vet discovered that Valkyrie is intersex meaning their outer anatomy looked female, but internally, they had male reproductive organs. It doesn’t cause any ongoing health concerns, it just makes Valkyrie that much more special!

Their surgery (a colopexy) went beautifully, and with regular care and a balanced diet to keep their digestion healthy, Valkyrie is expected to live a totally normal, happy life. You’d never know the challenges they’ve faced as this little dog has bounced back with incredible spirit.

Valkyrie is energetic, playful, and full of personality. If they could play all day, they absolutely would! They love running around, zooming after toys, and soaking up every bit of attention they can get. They’re social with other dogs and would likely thrive in a home with a canine friend to romp around with.

Beneath all that playful energy is a joyful, loving dog who just wants to be part of the fun. Valkyrie is a true original...brave, quirky, and absolutely unforgettable. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind companion with a big heart and a zest for life, Valkyrie might just be your perfect match! Please inquire today, this special pup is ready to make your world a little brighter!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
