If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
We adopted Dixie as an eight-week-old puppy from a fellow homeschooling family almost two years ago. She has been such a gift to our family! Our hearts are breaking at the thought of rehoming her. But we are moving to WI, possibly to an urban area, and we know Dixie would not adjust well to such a strange new environment.
She is very attached to us and great with our children. She's an indoor dog, house-trained and crate-trained and (mostly) obeys basic commands like recall, sit, down, stay, leave it, paw, roll over, and off. She enjoys patrolling our two-acre wooded lot, then coming to the door and barking when she wants to be let back in; curling up next to us for a long afternoon snooze while we work or read; trotting happily by our sides when we go for walks; and just generally being wherever her people are.
She is leash-reactive and fearful-reactive to new people and situations; she needs an owner who understands her breed, energy level, and anxious reactivity.
