My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gigi 7168
Before Gigi was first introduced to the Humane Society bark park, the photographer had to convince her that it was going to be a fun for everyone adventure. She was still a little apprehensive till her next-door neighbor Harper volunteered to join her and they walked comfortably together to the park and then the frolic began.

Gigi discovered the joy of leaping high to capture a flying squeaky and taking the rather scary looking miniature panda for the ride of its life. She and her friend Harper shared toys and excitement and even treats hidden in the grass, always with utmost respect toward each other. 7-year-old Gigi is a quiet, gentle natured, unassuming canine who interacts wonderfully with other dogs and humans alike. Gigi showed her sweet, inner-self as she shared a hug with a loving Big Paws volunteer during a Humane Society meet-and-greet celebration. Despite her name, Gigi is probably not a Parisian girl but her Louisiana Catahoula genetics qualify her for that fitting description.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is $70 which covers all the basic shots and worming medications appropriate for the age of the animal as well as the required spaying or neutering. If the animal is too young to be neutered, a voucher is presented to the adopter to cover the process at a participating vet. Rabies shots are not included. We have an application process in which we ask basic questions to insure that you and the chosen pet are a good match for each other. We do require a vet reference. If you have been arrested and convicted of animal abuse or neglect, you will not be considered for adoption. If you do not own your home, a letter from the landlord giving permission to have a pet is required. Local ordinances regarding maximum numbers of pets shall be observed. All other household pets must be spayed or neutered. All pets are adopted "as is." Should the pet not work out after you take it home, we ask that you return the animal to us for re-homing. We want each animal to find a loving forever home and reserve the right to refuse any application should the individual needs of the chosen animal not be in that dog's best interest. Contact our office for inquiries and applications.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society for Animals is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides for the welfare of dogs and cats in Benton County through shelter and adoption services, spaying and neutering vouchers, and humane education.
The Humane Society for Animals has held over 90,000 animals since it originally opened in 1972. Our facility at 1st and Nursery Rd. was built in 1980 and continuously houses a total of around 85 dogs and 20 cats. Most of our cats and dogs are strays that have been dumped or abandoned. Others come from local animal control agencies and from people who can no longer care for them, that live in the county. We offer the public numerous opportunities either to donate or get involved. Please contact us to see how you can help.
