Codie I have always wanted to enter a `longest whisker` contest. I think it would be a piece of cake for me because, well, just look at my whiskers. Not only are they long, but they are also white and show off nicely in contrast to my orange and rust tabby coat. The only problem I see is that I have not found a contest to enter. I am only 3.5-years-old, so I have lots of time to find one and fill out the application form. This idea is helping me keep my spirits up after being surrendered to the HSHC on October 7. The only owner I`ve ever had is moving and can`t take me with him. When I first checked into the shelter, I was in a negative frame of mind. I was nervous about the significant changes happening to me. I didn`t want to be messed with by the staff. However, after a while, I realized this was a good place to be, and I became more at ease. Then, right before Halloween, I was moved to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC), and life has been super-duper! I love the folks there and all the attention I get. I have excellent litter box skills. I am a sucker for pets and ear rubs, and I can always find someone to give me some. I love being held and cuddled because I`m a very affectionate cat. I don`t mind being picked up at all. I have a blast teasing the ladies by sitting in front of the doors and trying to get out before the ladies can catch me! I am a big fan of the elastic laces on one of their shoes. It feels so stretchy and bouncy in my mouth. I have also discovered I can squeeze into the smallest of the cat beds, which feels fabulous on my 15.6-pound body. I am usually the first to greet the staff every morning, hoping to have breakfast served to me. The interviewer lady (IL) thinks I am hilarious and is easily entertained by my hijinks! Don`t you think it`d be a laugh riot to take me home with you! 11-15-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
