Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mr. Pepper, born in October 2022, is a sweet cat who deserves a wonderful home and family that will care for him. He's recently had ALL his teeth extracted due to severe dental disease. For the rest of his life, he'll need to eat only wet food. Besides ensuring he is being fed the right kind of food, monitoring his dental health will also be important, which must include getting his teeth cleaned as recommended by a veterinarian. (Home Fur Good runs a dental clinic with the goal of providing quality dental cleanings at a reasonable rate. Dental cleanings, which include removal of plaque and tartar, and polishing of teeth, are a preventative measure against the formation of periodontal disease, which can lead to other health issues.) He’s been around other cats and with a slow introduction, it could be a perfect fit. Mr. Pepper is declawed on his front paws so any home he goes into that has another animal, must be where the other animal is calm. Mr. Pepper was recently adopted and returned due to no fault on his part but due to a human medical situation. This family wanted to share some of what they learned about Mr. Pepper during their time together to help ensure he goes to the best new home:
He is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate. He loves to play with a wand toy and then immediately curl up into you. He is curious and adventurous. He loved to do big jumps from furniture to other spots with a little encouragement. He loves people and would be the best little friend. Whether it was us, the vets, or someone visiting, he would run right up for pets and attention. He's really good at figuring out when he needs a little space and just retreats to a quiet, comfy spot - no swatting or aggression from overstimulation. He loves spending time looking out the window, especially when there are birds or other animals around. He's a little timid and vulnerable from losing his teeth and claws. Zero litterbox issues. He loved to cuddle up while sleeping, so will likely do better in a home that lets him on the bed instead of locking him out at night. He responds very well to encouragement. Patting the spot next to him brings him running over, and some verbal encouragement when he's unsure helps him a lot too. Liked a vertical scratching post (yes, declawed cats still require scratching posts as it helps them express happiness and stress, plus, it just feels good to stretch!). At only 3 years of age, Mr. Pepper has been thru a lot already - declawing, all his teeth removed, surrender to a shelter – remains a sweet and loving cat. It's time for him enjoy a healthy life full of love and play. Please consider giving him the home he deserves. Mr. Pepper's adoption fee of $100 includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FELV, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet Mr. Pepper, please call 602-971-1334 to schedule an appointment for any day of the week. Walk-ins are also welcome during our normal adoption hours on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Home Fur Good Animal Rescue is located at 10220 North 32nd Street, just south of Shea Blvd in Phoenix.
