Ellis is a 10-year-old sweetheart who has come such a long way in her foster home. She’s a sensitive soul who just needed a little patience and understanding to feel safe and loved.
Ellis has a thyroid condition, but she takes her medication easily and continues to do well with it. Her eyesight isn’t perfect, and sometimes get startled by fast movements, but once she knows you mean her no harm, she melts into a gentle, affectionate companion who loves to give soft little nudges for attention.
She’s still a bit cautious, but every day she opens up a little more, showing just how much love she has to give. Ellis would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can continue to blossom at her own pace.
She’s proof that with kindness and time, even the most timid hearts can learn to trust again.

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be a no-kill animal welfare agency. We are committed to finding great homes for great pets! As a 501(c)(3) nonproft, we receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from individuals, companies and grants to fund our programs and services. We are not affiliated with any other animal agency on a local, state or national level. Since 1902, our organization has been devoted to being a voice for the voiceless. Although we proudly find more than 2,000 animals forever homes every year, we are far more than an adoption center. We currently have a wide array of programs to support animals in our community. Through our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, we are able to help pet owners as well as battle cat overpopulation through Trap-Neuter-Return. Our humane society agents also work tirelessly to protect pets from cruel and neglectful circumstances through our Cruelty & Neglect Investigations Department. Through our Veterinary Hospital, we can provide top-quality access to veterinary care at a low cost to pet owners. In addition to our many programs, our organization is unique because we are the only agency in the community able to handle all types of animals. This includes cats and dogs but also rabbits, birds, farm animals, pocket pets and exotics. Our organization is committed to providing our community, our state and our region with support and care.
