My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

12/19 Kurt update:
🐾 Meet Kurt : A Dapper Dude who is More Than Ready for His Fresh Start 🐾

Kurt is SUCH a handsome fella! He has has officially been waiting 8 weeks for his chance to leave the shelter, and he’s beyond ready to trade kennel life for a couch, a yard, and a human of his own. 💙 His previous owner fell on hard times and couldn't care for Kurt (or his canine friend, David) any more, so they're both still here at the shelter hoping to be one of the happy tails we feature soon.

Kurt is about 2 years old and 40–45 pounds of playful, goofy charm. He has a fun kind of tail wagging, spirits high, happy kind of energy and very eager to get outta here!

Kurt seems to be house-trained, knows some basic manners, and is happy to show off his “sit” when treats or attention are involved. When he’s outside, he’s not the type to zoom off on his own, although sometimes he scampers around in the play yard a bit when he's been stuck in his kennel too long. For the most part, Kurt would much rather stay close, soak up affection, and just enjoy being with his people. ❤️

After 8 long weeks, Kurt is more than deserving of a home where he can stretch out, go on walks, and finally relax. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, gorgeous canine companion who’s truly ready for his next chapter, Kurt is waiting to meet you. He is a total sweetheart, y'all.

Let’s get this good boy out of the shelter and into the life he’s been waiting for. 🐶✨

🐾 Meet Kurt & David: Two Best Buds Starting Over 🐾

Kurt and David came to us after their previous owner fell on hard times, and while their story started a little rough, these two have taken it all in stride. They’re about 2 years old, around 40–45 pounds each, and full of playful, goofy energy.

We’re pretty sure they’re house-trained (bonus!) and they already know some manners. Kurt proudly shows off his “sit.” 🐶 When we let them out in the yard, they soaked up every second of attention and affection. Instead of running around, they mostly wanted to hang out with us. ❤️

They’ve been through a lot together, and you can tell they find comfort in each other, but both boys would blossom in homes where they can get love, attention, and maybe a few good walks a day.

If you’re looking for a loyal, happy friend (or two!), come meet Kurt and David. Their tails haven’t stopped wagging since they got here. 💕Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.

Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. We are open intake, meaning we can not turn away animals from either county we serve. Our shelter intakes double or triple it's capacity every month so it is essential we place animals quickly into adoptive homes. Since so many animals enter the shelter we often don't have enough volunteers to write an individual bio for each. Please feel free to call the shelter Wednesday-Sunday to inquire about the animal you are interested in. 706-795-2868.

Viewing and adoption hours at our shelter are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM.
All adoption fees include age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, and spay or neuter, microchip, and adoption packet.
Fees:
Dogs over 6 months old: $100
Puppies under 6 months: $200.
Cats and Kittens are $75 ($65 without microchip).
