Mavis is one of 4 cats we took in. She is white, grey, and a little brown. She had been living in a car since August, with occasional motel stays. The owner fell on hard times and had been trying to place them since June. We were the only rescue that stepped up to help them. Bless her for rescuing her babies and for not abandoning these cats despite the enormous burden she was carrying!! Mavis is adorable and so sweet. She bonded with one of our Maine Coon like babies, Puff. See the photos of this pair. Mavis and Puff have only one thing in common. They got spayed on the same day. We had them in recovery, and look what happened between these two fluffy adoptable girls!! Although not a must, would it not be wonderful to adopt this gorgeous pair together? Puff came from a neighborhood colony of 17 cats. They were in danger of being killed by birds of prey and coyotes. Will you give this pair a loving home?

We founded the Duette Animal Rescue Team (DART) in 2020 in Manatee County. DART is a volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing former domestic and exotic pets such as prosimians and cats with behavioral challenges. We learned about the plight for exotic pets held in captivity and lack of understanding of the care they need as wild animals. We support causes that advocate for the conservation of these species in the wild in their native countries. By working with a network of zo's, private owners, zoo staff volunteer advocates, foster caregivers, local veterinarians, trainers, and shelters,
DART strives to rescue animals and provide these animals with behavioral rehabilitation and care. We catch cats to assist with the management of stray cat overpopulation in the community. We rehabilitate the cats so that we can put them up for adoption and have a better quality of life. For example, cat litter box training and socialization.
