Uncle Fester I understand I am named after a debonair, sophisticated character from TV and movies. That suits me fine. I have always had a soft spot for the Addams Family! I am a 10-year-old, handsome DSH fellow with a coal-black coat and a splash of white on my chest. I was picked up as a stray in Fishers on September 27. I am a bit of a puzzle. I crave attention and pets, but once you start, don`t stop! Being from the streets, I will be happiest with a person who is fluent in Cat Body Language. My tail flicks constantly, making it hard to always figure out my mood. The interviewer lady (IL) found out that I love chin rubs, cheek rubs, and neck rubs. IL has a thing for the big, round cheeks of a tomcat (one who has not been neutered). I have not yet been neutered because I have been too sick. My medical exam revealed I am Feline Leukemia Virus positive (FeLV+), which means I can only live with other FeLV+ cats. The virus is only passed through close, repeated contact, such as grooming or sharing dishes. As I’m having trouble recovering from a URI and a goopy eye, the HSHC staff thought foster care would help me get my medicine, rest, and work on my social skills. On December 18, I moved into a foster home. My Foster Mom (FM) thinks I’m doing pretty well, though I still have a watery right eye and an upper respiratory infection. I am staying in a half-bath to make sure I stay in one familiar spot. I love giving people headbutts to get their attention, but petting me all over my body is too much stimulation for me. Stick to my cheeks, chin, top of my head, and around my ears, and I’ll love you forever! Sometimes I jump onto my FM’s chair and relax there. Other times, I sit on her lap and make biscuits. Being 10-years-old most toys and catnip don’t hold much interest for me. But those wand and feather toys help me get some exercise. I am crazy about those squeezy churu treats! If you decide you want to offer me a home, please know you are doing a very noble thing. You are giving me a chance that might not come my way. Although my lifespan may be shorter than that of a FeLV- cat, that life can be filled with happiness for both of us. If you, too, are a big fan of Thing, Pugsley, and Wednesday, keep me in mind when I complete my stay in foster. 1-4-26

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
