Meranda had an old pelvic fractures that had healed, but not correctly. Her left hip needed an FHO since she clearly was in pain. What is FHO? It’s the removal of femoral head and neck that creates a false joint to help the cat move without pain. Even thought Meranda had the surgery she will still walk with a slight limp Meranda has made amazing moves and started accepting people are friends. But quick moving humans are a bit much for her. A quiet home where she can sit in a lap or cuddle on the couch would be great for her. Meranda also has FIV and has been learning the colony life with her friends. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) FIV is an auto immune disorder. Cats affected with this virus often are unable to fight off illnesses as well as cats that are not positive. How do cats get the virus? FIV spreads among cats is through bite wounds or from mom. These are typically pretty aggressive fights. •Can FIV and non FIV live together? Studies have shown the cats can live together without transferring the disease. This is at the owners discretion and we ask for you to do your homework. Can people or dogs get FIV? No! They can live with other animals just fine. Meranda has a lot going on, we know she’s going to do great in her new home.
