Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Harvest!
Harvest is a petite, playful girl who has had a rough go at life prior to coming to us 54 days ago. When we first found her, she was found to have a jaw fracture and broken tooth that we took care of. While recovering from that and while we were getting to know her, we discovered that she had the most adorable and unique wobble in her back legs that gives her a little “tipsy” walk when she’s romping around.
After consultations with a board-certified radiologist, orthopedic surgeon, and neurologist, we’ve ruled out protozoal infection and orthopedic disease as the cause of her wobbly hind legs. Our best guess is a T3-L3 myelopathy, a spinal cord condition affecting the middle portion of her back that can cause her back legs to not always cooperate with what she is wanting to do.
Currently, Harvest is able to run and play (though she may occasionally stumble), and she has full control of her bladder and bowels. She does not require special care at this time, and her condition is not painful. She doesn’t need any meds right now, and she refuses to allow her condition to slow her down.
Harvest would thrive in a home with another dog playmate, minimal to no stairs (as they are really hard for her to use), and owners who don’t plan on being extremely active with her. While she may not be a hiking or running buddy, her ideal adopter should be committed to making sure she gets exercise daily to help keep her muscle tone up; they should also be committed to keeping her at a lean weight so she doesn't have to carry around any extra poundage. While we can’t predict exactly what the future holds or if/when her condition may progress, she’s ready to bring love, laughs, and wobble-tastic charm to the right family.
If you’re looking for a sweet, spirited companion who will keep you smiling with her adorable wobbly walk, Harvest might be the perfect match!
If you are interested in a meet and greet for adoption for Harvest, please fill out an application on our website at www.gatewaypets.org/adopt. If you are interested in learning more about Harvest or the adoption process at GPG, please email placement@gatewaypets.org
All of our dogs and cats will be microchipped, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations at the time of adoption. For more photos of Harvest, follow us on Facebook Gateway Pet Guardians and Instagram @gatewaypets ... #gpgHarvest.

Gateway Pet Guardians is proud to offer a variety of mixed breed dogs available for adoption. However, please keep in mind that we rarely know the genetic background of the animals we rescue and, as such, we cannot guarantee the exact breed combinations found within this dog. Therefore, we do not know his/her actual genetic makeup. Just know that this dog is probably a variety of several different breeds that have combined to create one very amazing and unique animal.
